Cara membuat akun Twitter

Kali ini saya akan sedikit mencoba menjelaskan cara membuat akun Twitter. Mungkin di antara rekan netter sudah mengetahui bagaimana cara membuatnya, tapi ada juga beberapa orang yang kurang mengerti bagaimana cara mendaftarnya, apalagi bagi para newbie.

Twitter berguna untuk membantu pengguna untuk mencurahkan dan membentuk isi pikiran serta suasana hati melalui serangkaian kalimat pendek yang mereka posting secara berkala. Seperti juga perusahaan-perusahaan ternama, mereka menggunakan layanan mikro blogging ini untuk mengetahui apa yang pelanggan pikirkan mengenai produk mereka sehingga dapat dijadikan masukan dan pembaharuan yang bisa segera diadaptasikan dalam penjualan produk mereka.

Pada dasarnya orang menggunakan Twitter untuk mengikuti sumber-sumber yang paling relevan untuk mereka dan mengakses informasi seperti berita-berita terbaru dari penjuru dunia. Untuk mendaftar, silahkan ikuti beberapa langkah singkat berikut ini :

Langkah awal.

Arahkan ke http://twitter.com/ dan pilih tombol hijau "Sign up now" yang berada di sebelah kanan layar Anda,

atau arahkan langsung ke https://twitter.com/signup. Ini akan membawa Anda ke halaman pendaftaran utama.

Field pertama, Anda akan diminta untuk mengisi nama lengkap Anda. Dengan menggunakan nama asli Anda, Anda meningkatkan relevansi dan keakraban dengan pengikut (followers) Anda.

Berikutnya, Anda akan diminta untuk memilih nama pengguna. Cobalah untuk mengambil sesuatu yang menggambarkan Anda - apakah itu nama panggilan, minat atau hobi. Saya memilih nama 'ardiirgi' untuk memastikan semua orang agar tahu bahwa saya baru ber-Twitter. Ini akan menjadi nama pengikut yang Anda gunakan ketika mengirimkan @balasan, pesan langsung, atau Retweets. Ini juga akan membentuk URL timeline awal Anda. Sebuah preview URL yang ditampilkan di bawah untuk username @ardiirgi.

Harap dicatat: Anda dapat mengubah nama Anda pada pengaturan account Anda kapan saja, selama nama pengguna baru tidak digunakan. Nama pengguna harus kurang dari 15 karakter panjangnya, dan tidak boleh berisi 'admin' atau 'twitter' untuk menghindari percampuran dalam merek.

Setelah Anda memilih nama pengguna yang sesuai, Anda akan diminta untuk memasukkan sandi. Buatlah yang rumit tapi Anda pasti selalu ingat. Pastikan password Anda mengandung huruf, angka, dan simbol. Disarankan agar tidak menggunakan password yang didasarkan pada sebuah kata yang ditemukan dalam kamus.

Setelah Anda memasukkan sandi yang cukup kuat, silakan berikan alamat email. Hal ini digunakan untuk mengkonfirmasi account Anda sebelum Anda dapat menyelesaikan proses pendaftaran.

Langkah berikutnya adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa Anda adalah seorang manusia (bukan mesin!) Dengan mengetikkan kata-kata yang ditampilkan dalam Captcha sebelum menekan tombol "Create my account". Catatan: jika Anda mengalami kesulitan membaca kata-kata, Anda dapat meminta captcha baru, atau Anda dapat memilih audio captcha.

Mencari Sumber-sumber yang menjadi Minat Anda

Karena Twitter lebih bermanfaat dan menyenangkan ketika Anda mendapatkan update reguler yang relevan dengan minat Anda, pilihlah beberapa hal yang Anda minati pada sebelah kiri layar. Hal ini memudahkan Twitter memberikan saran menampilkan beberapa account yang mungkin ingin Anda ikuti (follow). Setiap kali Anda memilih minat, daftar pengguna yang disarankan akan muncul. Mengklik tombol link 'follow' di samping nama pengguna akan menambahkan mereka ke daftar pengguna yang Anda ikuti (following). Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nomor pada kotak hijau di atas daftar.

Tip: Buatlah daftar 'following' yang beragam sesuai minat Anda. Setelah Anda mengikuti pengguna yang disarankan dalam satu bidang minat, pilih yang lain dan temukan lebih banyak sumber-sumber untuk diikuti. Setelah selesai, klik tombol biru 'Next:friends' di sebelah kanan bawah dari layar Anda.

Berikut adalah hal yang lebih pribadi: Jika Anda pilih, Twitter dapat men-scan buku alamat email Anda untuk menemukan kontak yang juga menggunakan Twitter. Ini adalah cara yang cepat dan mudah untuk menemukan teman-teman Anda. Cukup ketik alamat email dan password email Anda ke dalam kotak, lalu tekan tombol 'Find friends". Twitter tidak akan menyimpan data login Anda, dan tidak akan menggunakan alamat email Anda tanpa izin Anda.

Saat scan selesai, Twitter akan menunjukkan daftar teman dan kolega yang ditemukan dari buku alamat Anda. Anda dapat memilih untuk mengikuti semua dari mereka dengan menekan tombol biru 'Follow all' di sisi kanan hasil, atau jika Anda ingin melihat pembaruan hanya dari orang-orang tertentu, Anda dapat memilih untuk meminta untuk mengikuti kontak email Anda secara pribadi menggunakan tombol abu-abu 'Send request' di samping keterangan mereka.

Setelah Anda memilih teman-teman dan kolega yang Anda ingin ikuti, klik tombol 'Next: others' di bagian bawah layar Anda. Sebuah kotak akan pop-up dengan kontak yang tersisa, bagi mereka yang belum menggunakan Twitter. Jika Anda ingin mengundang mereka untuk bergabung dengan Twitter, cukup centang kotak di sebelah kontak yang ingin Anda undang - atau klik "selesct all" di bagian atas. Harap diingat bahwa jika Anda memilih semua kontak Anda dan dilanjutkan, itu akan mengundang semua kontak Anda.

Anda hampir selesai! Langkah akhir pendaftaran adalah untuk mencari orang lain yang ingin Anda tambahkan di Twitter. Sebagai contoh, saya akan mencari Biz Stone, yang tidak muncul dalam kontak impor saya.

Ketika saya mengklik tombol 'follow' di samping keterangan Biz, sebuah pesan konfirmasi akan muncul.

Setelah Anda selesai mencari, menemukan, dan mengikuti teman atau kolega,Anda  klik tombol biru 'Next step: you're done!' untuk menyelesaikan proses sign up. Anda akan dibawa ke halaman muka Anda, yang dikenal sebagai timeline Anda, di mana Anda dapat berbagi informasi melalui Tweets, seperti pada contoh ditunjukkan di bawah ini:

Creating Your Own Blog To Have An Online Diary

Blogger is owned by Google.com. It is a free site that will allow you to create your own blog. In fact, you will have the option of creating as many blogs as you like and all for free.

Put the following URL into your web browser: http://www.blogger.com

When you do, you will see the following screen. From this screen, there are three things you can do. You can sign in (which will be an option once you have created an account), you can take a quick tour (which will not be necessary if you read the remainder of this chapter, although can be helpful to some learning styles), or you can create your own blog now.

Click on the orange arrow that says, Create Your Blog Now.

Step 2: Create an Account

For this step, you will need to create a user name and password. It does not matter what user name you choose.

You will also be asked what display name you wish to use. When you post to your blog, this name will be displayed at the end of each post. For now, go ahead and put an editor. Later, in Chapter 9, you will learn how to change this for each blog if you wish.

Finally, you will need to type in your email address (make sure it is a real address) and check the area that says you agree to their Terms of Service. We have included the Google's entire Terms of Service in our Appendix.

Once you have entered the information, click on the orange Continue arrow.

Step 3: Naming Your Blog

Now you will get to name your blog. The first area is the Blog Title of your blog. In this example, the blog title is Kidney Stones. That means, the title at the top of the blog will say Kidney Stones. Later, we will show you how to optimize your Blog Title for search engines. The Blog Title can be changed at any time.

Next you will be asked to create a blog address or URL. Notice that the URL does not have the traditional www at the front. Picking a blog address can be a bit tricky. If you want to keyword optimize your URL for AdSense or other marketing purposes, you will want to read Chapter 8 to find out how to pick a good name.

Before clicking on the orange Continue arrow, you will be asked to type in the characters you see in the picture below. This makes sure that you are a person and not an autobot creating the blog.

There is one other issue with picking a blog name the name you want may already be in use. If it is, you will see the following page after clicking continue:

At this point, you simply choose a different blog address.

In the sample above, you might want to try blog-and-ping using the dashes, try reversing the name to pingandblog or ping-and-blog, try bloggingandpinging or blogging-and-pinging, or any other number of variations.

Once you find a URL that is not taken, you can move on to Step 4.

3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Signing Up for Paid Surveys

Paid surveys are a nice and easy way to make extra income without picking up a second job. However, when it comes to determining which survey opportunities to participate in, ask yourself these three questions: Do I have to pay for it? Is this a viable business opportunity and is it long term? And what kind of cash can I realistically make? Do I have to pay for it?

Any legitimate survey or market research company worth a salt will not require any kind of money from you up front. You are providing them real feedback so you should not be charged. Also a survey company should have an affiliate program where again it pays you if you refer your friends and family to partake in the surveys as well. Some companies take the time to compile directories or lists and sell memberships instead. If you look into these, be sure to read some reviews on the individual service first.

Is this a viable business opportunity and is it for me?
Companies wanting to develop new products want to know what the consumer wants and needs in the marketplace. Before they spend any kind of major capital on development of a new product, they pour millions of dollars into market research to avoid having a product that turns out to be a total flop. Surveys take time, companies understand this, and are willing to compensate individuals for their time with a nominal amount of cash incentive. If you plan on looking for a quick buck, look else where. This business model requires some consistent effort in order to see any kind of real results.

What kind of cash can I realistically make?
Before you know how much you can make for each survey, you need to read the fine print. Many times companies will tell you that you earn "credits" or "points" which in turn can be converted to cash or a Visa gift card, which is treated like cash. Some companies will just give you flat out cash and usually pay out 2-4 weeks after you have completed the survey. Most of the time this is has to do with their accounting cycles. Payouts can be anywhere from $2 dollars for a 5 minute survey all the way to $20 for a 30 minutes survey and even as has as $75 and beyond.

Paid surveys can help create additional streams of income that require no start up capital other than some time set aside each day of the week in order to make anything work for them. You should not have to pay for any kind of survey opportunity. You should expect to work on this consistently for the greatest gains possible. Read the fine print because not all companies give cold hard cash.
