Cara membuat akun Twitter

Kali ini saya akan sedikit mencoba menjelaskan cara membuat akun Twitter. Mungkin di antara rekan netter sudah mengetahui bagaimana cara membuatnya, tapi ada juga beberapa orang yang kurang mengerti bagaimana cara mendaftarnya, apalagi bagi para newbie.

Twitter berguna untuk membantu pengguna untuk mencurahkan dan membentuk isi pikiran serta suasana hati melalui serangkaian kalimat pendek yang mereka posting secara berkala. Seperti juga perusahaan-perusahaan ternama, mereka menggunakan layanan mikro blogging ini untuk mengetahui apa yang pelanggan pikirkan mengenai produk mereka sehingga dapat dijadikan masukan dan pembaharuan yang bisa segera diadaptasikan dalam penjualan produk mereka.

Pada dasarnya orang menggunakan Twitter untuk mengikuti sumber-sumber yang paling relevan untuk mereka dan mengakses informasi seperti berita-berita terbaru dari penjuru dunia. Untuk mendaftar, silahkan ikuti beberapa langkah singkat berikut ini :

Langkah awal.

Arahkan ke http://twitter.com/ dan pilih tombol hijau "Sign up now" yang berada di sebelah kanan layar Anda,

atau arahkan langsung ke https://twitter.com/signup. Ini akan membawa Anda ke halaman pendaftaran utama.

Field pertama, Anda akan diminta untuk mengisi nama lengkap Anda. Dengan menggunakan nama asli Anda, Anda meningkatkan relevansi dan keakraban dengan pengikut (followers) Anda.

Berikutnya, Anda akan diminta untuk memilih nama pengguna. Cobalah untuk mengambil sesuatu yang menggambarkan Anda - apakah itu nama panggilan, minat atau hobi. Saya memilih nama 'ardiirgi' untuk memastikan semua orang agar tahu bahwa saya baru ber-Twitter. Ini akan menjadi nama pengikut yang Anda gunakan ketika mengirimkan @balasan, pesan langsung, atau Retweets. Ini juga akan membentuk URL timeline awal Anda. Sebuah preview URL yang ditampilkan di bawah untuk username @ardiirgi.

Harap dicatat: Anda dapat mengubah nama Anda pada pengaturan account Anda kapan saja, selama nama pengguna baru tidak digunakan. Nama pengguna harus kurang dari 15 karakter panjangnya, dan tidak boleh berisi 'admin' atau 'twitter' untuk menghindari percampuran dalam merek.

Setelah Anda memasukkan sandi yang cukup kuat, silakan berikan alamat email. Hal ini digunakan untuk mengkonfirmasi account Anda sebelum Anda dapat menyelesaikan proses pendaftaran.

Langkah berikutnya adalah untuk membuktikan bahwa Anda adalah seorang manusia (bukan mesin!) Dengan mengetikkan kata-kata yang ditampilkan dalam Captcha sebelum menekan tombol "Create my account". Catatan: jika Anda mengalami kesulitan membaca kata-kata, Anda dapat meminta captcha baru, atau Anda dapat memilih audio captcha.

Mencari Sumber-sumber yang menjadi Minat Anda

Karena Twitter lebih bermanfaat dan menyenangkan ketika Anda mendapatkan update reguler yang relevan dengan minat Anda, pilihlah beberapa hal yang Anda minati pada sebelah kiri layar. Hal ini memudahkan Twitter memberikan saran menampilkan beberapa account yang mungkin ingin Anda ikuti (follow). Setiap kali Anda memilih minat, daftar pengguna yang disarankan akan muncul. Mengklik tombol link 'follow' di samping nama pengguna akan menambahkan mereka ke daftar pengguna yang Anda ikuti (following). Hal ini ditunjukkan oleh nomor pada kotak hijau di atas daftar.

Tip: Buatlah daftar 'following' yang beragam sesuai minat Anda. Setelah Anda mengikuti pengguna yang disarankan dalam satu bidang minat, pilih yang lain dan temukan lebih banyak sumber-sumber untuk diikuti. Setelah selesai, klik tombol biru 'Next:friends' di sebelah kanan bawah dari layar Anda.

Berikut adalah hal yang lebih pribadi: Jika Anda pilih, Twitter dapat men-scan buku alamat email Anda untuk menemukan kontak yang juga menggunakan Twitter. Ini adalah cara yang cepat dan mudah untuk menemukan teman-teman Anda. Cukup ketik alamat email dan password email Anda ke dalam kotak, lalu tekan tombol 'Find friends". Twitter tidak akan menyimpan data login Anda, dan tidak akan menggunakan alamat email Anda tanpa izin Anda.

Saat scan selesai, Twitter akan menunjukkan daftar teman dan kolega yang ditemukan dari buku alamat Anda. Anda dapat memilih untuk mengikuti semua dari mereka dengan menekan tombol biru 'Follow all' di sisi kanan hasil, atau jika Anda ingin melihat pembaruan hanya dari orang-orang tertentu, Anda dapat memilih untuk meminta untuk mengikuti kontak email Anda secara pribadi menggunakan tombol abu-abu 'Send request' di samping keterangan mereka.

Setelah Anda memilih teman-teman dan kolega yang Anda ingin ikuti, klik tombol 'Next: others' di bagian bawah layar Anda. Sebuah kotak akan pop-up dengan kontak yang tersisa, bagi mereka yang belum menggunakan Twitter. Jika Anda ingin mengundang mereka untuk bergabung dengan Twitter, cukup centang kotak di sebelah kontak yang ingin Anda undang - atau klik "selesct all" di bagian atas. Harap diingat bahwa jika Anda memilih semua kontak Anda dan dilanjutkan, itu akan mengundang semua kontak Anda.

Anda hampir selesai! Langkah akhir pendaftaran adalah untuk mencari orang lain yang ingin Anda tambahkan di Twitter. Sebagai contoh, saya akan mencari Biz Stone, yang tidak muncul dalam kontak impor saya.

Ketika saya mengklik tombol 'follow' di samping keterangan Biz, sebuah pesan konfirmasi akan muncul.

Creating Your Own Blog To Have An Online Diary

Blogger is owned by Google.com. It is a free site that will allow you to create your own blog. In fact, you will have the option of creating as many blogs as you like and all for free.

Put the following URL into your web browser: http://www.blogger.com

When you do, you will see the following screen. From this screen, there are three things you can do. You can sign in (which will be an option once you have created an account), you can take a quick tour (which will not be necessary if you read the remainder of this chapter, although can be helpful to some learning styles), or you can create your own blog now.

Click on the orange arrow that says, Create Your Blog Now.

Step 2: Create an Account

For this step, you will need to create a user name and password. It does not matter what user name you choose.

You will also be asked what display name you wish to use. When you post to your blog, this name will be displayed at the end of each post. For now, go ahead and put an editor. Later, in Chapter 9, you will learn how to change this for each blog if you wish.

Finally, you will need to type in your email address (make sure it is a real address) and check the area that says you agree to their Terms of Service. We have included the Google's entire Terms of Service in our Appendix.

Once you have entered the information, click on the orange Continue arrow.

Step 3: Naming Your Blog

Now you will get to name your blog. The first area is the Blog Title of your blog. In this example, the blog title is Kidney Stones. That means, the title at the top of the blog will say Kidney Stones. Later, we will show you how to optimize your Blog Title for search engines. The Blog Title can be changed at any time.

Next you will be asked to create a blog address or URL. Notice that the URL does not have the traditional www at the front. Picking a blog address can be a bit tricky. If you want to keyword optimize your URL for AdSense or other marketing purposes, you will want to read Chapter 8 to find out how to pick a good name.

Before clicking on the orange Continue arrow, you will be asked to type in the characters you see in the picture below. This makes sure that you are a person and not an autobot creating the blog.

There is one other issue with picking a blog name the name you want may already be in use. If it is, you will see the following page after clicking continue:

At this point, you simply choose a different blog address.

In the sample above, you might want to try blog-and-ping using the dashes, try reversing the name to pingandblog or ping-and-blog, try bloggingandpinging or blogging-and-pinging, or any other number of variations.

Once you find a URL that is not taken, you can move on to Step 4.

What kind of cash can I realistically make?
Before you know how much you can make for each survey, you need to read the fine print. Many times companies will tell you that you earn "credits" or "points" which in turn can be converted to cash or a Visa gift card, which is treated like cash. Some companies will just give you flat out cash and usually pay out 2-4 weeks after you have completed the survey. Most of the time this is has to do with their accounting cycles. Payouts can be anywhere from $2 dollars for a 5 minute survey all the way to $20 for a 30 minutes survey and even as has as $75 and beyond.

Paid surveys can help create additional streams of income that require no start up capital other than some time set aside each day of the week in order to make anything work for them. How to do everything with your blog

The word “blog” means different things to different people. I’m a techie guy, so I think of a blog as a website that uses a certain type of content management system (CMS), which is software designed to make it easier to publish on the Web. Most of the “blogging” CMS applications help you create a website that’s loosely based on the way a personal journal or diary is organized, comprised of individual entries that are organized by date and time. (The original term was web log, which is suggestive of a personal log or diary. The term since has been shortened through general usage to blog.)

If you’ve spent any time on the Internet, you’ve probably seen tons of sites just like that. But, it’s certainly not all that blogs can be. Indeed, what blogs aren’t might be easier to define—they aren’t the sort of brochure-style website that people have tended to put up in years past. Because the blogging software is designed to enable you to create content for your website without knowing arcane little codes and commands (or at least fewer of them), the theory is that you’ll spend more time creating and updating the content—the words and pictures—on your site. And the more entries you write—again, in theory—the more you’ll be able to interest an Internet-based audience in what you have to say. People use blogs for all sorts of reasons, from keeping a diary-like account of their day-to-day lives to pitching products and services. Some people who have blog-style websites focus on politics or on making a difference in a social context. Others create and maintain blogs to get back at their ex-girlfriends or boyfriends— or to woo new ones. Some have blogs in order to write about rumors and scandals; some keep blogs to cover the latest gizmos and gadgets. Some blog about history or hobbies or local nightlife or world peace—you get the idea. Meanwhile, if one of the main characteristics of the blogging phenomenon is that it makes publishing on the Web an easy proposition, it stands to reason that you don’t need to read two or three articles to get you started with blogging. For instance, for a truly “Web 2.0” blog, you’ll probably want some interactive features, which may range from offering your readers the opportunity to comment on your entries to enabling readers to search through photos and multimedia archives that you’ve stored on services such as Flickr and YouTube. Or you might even want to offer sophisticated community tools to your users to get them to stop by your site often just to chat or argue or make friends (and enemies). In this article, we’ll look at some of the basic terminology of “today’s” blogging, Web 2.0-style, and we’ll discuss some of the decisions you’ll want to make as you plan to implement a blog. The term “blog” can be both a noun and a verb. As a noun, it refers to the website itself, as in, “Have you checked out my blog lately?” As a verb, it means the process of adding to your blog, as in “I’m going to blog about that play I saw last night.” People who get known for their blogging (another oft-used form of the verb) are often called “bloggers,” and the sort of imaginary space in which “things are talked about on blogs” is sometimes referred to as the “blogosphere,” as in “The left-wing blogosphere is fired up over the announcement of a new nominee for the Federal bench.” The term “Web 2.0” was coined by Dale Dougherty in a brainstorming session with publisher Tim O’Reilly at a conference in late 2005, and while it wasn’t perfectly well-defined at the time, it was meant to suggest the next generation of Web applications that were turning the Web from a sort of static experience into a more active—maybe “useful”—one. (In computer software parlance, the “2.0” version of a product represents a generational step-up from the original “1.0” version of that product.)

Since that time it’s been a very popular moniker that generally encapsulates the idea of “all the fun stuff happening on the Web these days,” even if people don’t totally agree on its meaning. In that original brainstorming session, the term was “defined” when the participants listed examples of web applications that they thought of as fitting the Web 2.0 mold, such as Google’s Adsense advertising program, Flickr (www.flickr.com, an online photo-sharing site), and Wikipedia, all sites that make interaction with us, the users, the primary goal. As things have developed, “Web 2.0” is really being slapped on to a lot of different situations. The way we’ll use it in this article is in the sense that a “Web 2.0” blog and the associated add-ons you can implement may experience a more interactive one for people who read your blog. (So much so, in some cases, that they become “visitors” instead of “readers” because they’re active participants on your blog.) As I’ll talk about more in a moment, the Web 2.0 aspect of your blog is that it enables you to create a sense of community for those who visit, giving them the tools to talk back, or add their own creative sparks, or otherwise participate and get to know others who also visit your site. Blogs themselves tend to be thought of as Web 2.0, even though they pre-date the term “Web 2.0” itself. The fact that blogging software makes it easy for you to frequently update the content on your website is a Web 2.0 feature, and the fact that many blogging systems have reader-commenting features built in add to a sense of interactivity that can help you build an online community. Many blogging CMS tools also have syndication tools built in that allow other people to “subscribe” to your blog’s headlines (or full entries) and read them in special applications or publish automatic links to your work on their own web pages.

Another way to integrate Web 2.0 concepts into your blog is to take advantage of the many Web 2.0 applications that are appearing on the Web. Picture and video-sharing sites such as Picasa, Flickr, YouTube, and Yahoo! Video are Web 2.0 applications and communities in their own right, while, at the same time, offering you enhancements for your blog. Rating sites such as Digg.com and Technorati.com can help others find the entries that you post; social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us or Spurl.net allow you to share your bookmarks (and links to your blog) with others in order to find like-minded folks and build online relationships. Another usage of the term “Web 2.0” refers to a slightly amorphous design sensibility—one of simplicity and a form-follows-function approach. If you’d like a Web 2.0-looking blog, then you’ll want to search for blog-site templates (or to design one yourself) that offer a simple, clean look that tends to pervade the current crop of Web 2.0 applications. It’s not mandatory—you should feel free to express yourself when it comes to creating your blog, particularly if it’s a personal site. However, following a few simple guidelines when it comes to design can help to build community. It makes your site more navigable and useful because the simpler designs of today’s Web 2.0 sites tend also to be more familiar to users. It’s worth saying here that design sensibilities change all the time, so the Web 2.0 approach to design—particularly some very frequently used items such as rounded corners on boxes and glass-like shadows under logos—may well change soon after you get your hands on this article (if they haven’t already). Hopefully, though, the underlying simplicity will remain a part of Web design, as that Web 2.0 notion is really a return to some of the fundamental form-follows-function theories that are part of the original vision for the Web.
